Tuesday brought severe weather to much of central North Carolina, leaving behind plenty of destruction in its wake.

Prepare yourself, because more arrives Wednesday. A Level 1 risk for severe weather remains in effect for much of the WRAL viewing area Wednesday.

Although, according to WRAL meteorologist Mike Maze, things shouldn’t get as rough as they did on Tuesday.

“The rain that we will see [Wednesday] will not mirror the rain we saw [Tuesday], so if you didn’t see rain the last couple of days, the likelihood of you seeing beneficial rains tomorrow are not looking all that great,” Maze explained.

He says the weather, although it will likely be severe in nature, simply won’t spread out over as much of the area as it did Tuesday.

“The storms Wednesday, they’re really not all that widespread,” Maze noted.

WRAL meteorologist Kat Campbell says that Wednesday will be humid, as well.

“Tomorrow will be another steamy day with very muggy air and highs in the 80s,” she said. “Skies will be partly to mostly cloudy the first half of the day with a 20% chance of rain. The threats are damaging wind gusts and hail.”

Storms possible Wednesday

Campbell says the severe storm chances are from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m.

Rest of the week

Thursday will feel a whole lot better, and the risks of severe weather will be over.

“Thursday will feel totally different,” Campbell said. “The muggy meter tanks back into the refreshing category with dew points in the 40s. Highs will only climb into the low 70s.”

Cold front coming

She says the weekend ahead is looking like a good one to get outdoors.

“Saturday and Sunday still look pleasant,” she said. “Highs in the 70s Saturday and 80s Sunday. There will be a small chance for rain Sunday night ahead of our next system.”
